People Solutions Program (HR)

Phase 1: Discover

Interviews

To define the direction for the redesigned People Solutions Program site, I created an interview script and spoke with three members of the People Solutions team. The goal was to understand their vision for the experience, how visitors should navigate and engage with the site, and where the current version was falling short.

During each session, participants walked me through their current workflow, shared their screens, and highlighted opportunities to make the site feel clearer, more useful, and more aligned with Apple’s internal design standards.

Key insights from the interviews:

  • 3/3 participants wanted the site to feel clean and minimal, using color only as a text accent rather than relying on bold background colors.

  • 2/3 participants wanted a news slider to surface important updates and announcements.

  • 3/3 participants wanted a timeline component to highlight current and upcoming events.

  • 1/3 participants requested a concise header message to quickly explain the purpose of the PSP site.

Analysis

The interviews revealed a clear need for a more refined, structured, and intuitive experience. To ensure the redesign felt consistent with Apple’s internal ecosystem, I audited a range of existing internal sites and evaluated their layout systems, visual hierarchy, navigation patterns, and content strategy.

This research helped identify opportunities to modernize the PSP site while maintaining familiarity for employees. The final direction focused on creating a clean editorial layout, stronger information hierarchy, lightweight visual accents, and more purposeful content modules that made the site easier to understand and navigate.

Feature Opportunities

Through stakeholder interviews and a review of existing internal landing pages, I identified several key opportunities to shape the redesigned PSP site. These features were selected to support clarity, reduce visual noise, and make the experience more useful for employees.

Minimal Color System

The PSP team emphasized the importance of keeping the interface clean and focused. To avoid a busy or overly complex visual experience, the redesign uses a restrained color system with color applied primarily as an accent for text, links, and key moments of emphasis.

Clear Headline

The team wanted visitors to immediately understand the purpose of the site. A concise headline became a key opportunity to establish context upfront, communicate the value of the PSP program, and guide users into the rest of the page with clarity.

Timeline Module

Because the PSP team manages multiple events, updates, and program milestones, a timeline module was essential. This creates a central place for visitors to quickly view current and upcoming events without having to search through multiple channels or communications.

Announcement Carousel

An announcement carousel provides a flexible space for timely updates, important news, and program highlights. This feature allows the team to keep content fresh while helping high-priority information stand out within the overall page experience.
